A manger is a person who is responsible for carrying functions of organization. His duty is to oversee employees and departments and ensures that they are working properly and organization is towards its way to success. Depending on the size of company there may be single, double or triple layers of managers and each layer will be responsible for different tasks.
Basically in large organizations management is divided into three components naming upper management, middle management and lower management. Lower management is involved in carrying basic commerce or other related functions. Middle management is involved in overseeing lower management and their work activities. Upper management or senior management includes stakeholder and board of directors who are directly involved in taking business decisions.
Manger is the key person in every organization and has a great effect on their subordinates. A good manger possesses the following properties.
Good communication: this is the most important skill that must be possessed by managers because communication is the base of every relation and activity. At all managerial level the main task is you have to communicate your needs, emotions, feelings, expectations and opinion to other people. It is so if you are unable to communicate what you really want to say then you cannot work properly and effectively.
Leadership: a good manger must also be a good leader he/she has to possess all the qualities of a leader because their staff is their team and he/she is the leader to guide them all toward the desired goal. As a leader it’s his/her duty to divide the work among team members and make them clear about their goals individually as well as company’s goal. He/she must have a clear vision that in which direction he/she wants his team to grow.
Good organization: a manger must be a good organizer in order to organize schedule and follow that plan. It also involve that a manger must have good understanding abilities to understand the changing market situations and make the changes accordingly. He/she must also know the rules and regulation thoroughly and make their subordinates to strictly follow these rules.
Team building: a good manager always tries to keep his/her team potted. He motivates all his/her team members to work efficiently to meet organizational goals which also help them in long run. They also listen to any irregularities or dispute among team members and provide them with best possible solution. Manger has to build trust among team members which helps team to feel more committed and appreciated.
Honesty: one of the most important qualities in a manager is honesty. He/she will be honest to their day to day business activities and will be fair by all means.
